Top Supplement Recommendations for Blood Sugar & Insulin Support

When it comes to supporting healthy blood sugar and insulin levels, there are a few key supplements I commonly recommend in my practice.

The first one that often comes to mind is berberine. This powerful herbal compound has been well-researched for its ability to help regulate blood sugar levels, support healthy lipid profiles, and even act as an antimicrobial. In most cases, I recommend a total daily dose of around 1,000 mg. I also prefer berberine supplements that include alpha lipoic acid, which offers added support for blood sugar regulation.

Another important supplement to consider is chromium. A deficiency in chromium can play a role in blood sugar imbalances, so it’s essential to ensure adequate intake. Many of my patients are already taking a high-quality multivitamin that includes chromium, but in some cases, short-term supplementation with higher doses of chromium can be helpful in improving insulin sensitivity and overcoming stubborn blood sugar challenges.

As always, supplement recommendations should be tailored to your individual needs. Be sure to consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes to your supplement routine.
