What about adding testosterone replacement for women on hormone replacement therapy? Well, it can be really, really helpful for energy, libido, body composition changes. When we go through menopause we lose about half of our own body’s ability to make testosterone, and so it can be a really helpful part of hormone replacement therapy.
Now, for women, when we replace testosterone, we can do it topically, so usually with a cream or a gel, or we can dissolve a lozenge. Those are essentially the two main ways that we can do it. And again, it really can help with energy, libido, and body composition. Now, if you’re already doing estrogen replacement therapy and you’re getting it via a cream or a lozenge, then it is possible to add the testosterone into that. You just have to ask your provider to do so.
