Progesterone Therapy In Perimenopause

perimenopause

What about progesterone therapy in menopause? So if you are on hormone replacement therapy with estrogen and you have a uterus, meaning you have not had a hysterectomy, then you should be on some form of progesterone. The preferred method for progesterone is oral micronized progesterone. And we do like oral progesterone because we do want it to cross the blood-brain barrier because progesterone is really helpful for sleep and anxiety as well as uterine protection when we’re taking some extra estrogen. Now, if you do not have a uterus, then progesterone becomes optional. However, some women still like it because they like the benefits that it gives them as far as sleep and anxiety control.
